NEWS:
updated 2nd September 2010
Look out for changes over the summer, sometimes at short notice. News updates below; for more info check the links above.
• Ball Updates
Don’t forget: dresscode is ‘Maximum Glamour’...
Refreshments: some snacks and soft drinks supplied, but feel free to bring your own as well.
• Summer Programme
Classes are now back to normal (Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Niche Late Lounge).
• Fridays – informal milonga at Niche most weeks 8.30-11pm or later.
27th August: milonga at the Mystery Medieval College…
• Tuesdays/Wednesdays
Both teaching nights are now at Niche Late Lounge (not Hidden Rooms).
• Teaching in the Autumn
We’re planning to run a series of 10-week courses during the autumn, probably on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, in the format of ‘10xTuesdays’ etc. Various levels, including absolute beginners. Please get in touch to request a particular level on a particular night: we’ll follow demand.
• Package deal
Come to the Tuesday class and get the Wednesday class (same week) for half-price.
OTHER INFO:
• Just picked up one of the new flyers?
Wondering whether you’ve been left behind? Don’t worry, all the classes advertised can be joined at ANY time. But there’s no time like the present…
• Gift Vouchers
Either for a fixed amount or specific type of tango lesson (e.g. ‘a 90-minute private lesson’ or ‘three Tuesday classes’ – although we are in fact entirely flexible and recipients can redeem the voucher any way they want as long as it’s legal). Ideal for someone in your life who you suspect might enjoy learning to dance, but just needs a little prompting…
• Bespoke tango tuition
Can’t make Tuesday evenings? Look out for one-off intensive weekend workshops. Or get together with a few friends and demand one at a time and place of your choosing.
• Private lessons
Whether you take a series of classes, or just book a one-off, private lessons are a very cost-effective way of learning tango. Follow the link above for details.
• Music
Here’s a good website where you can discover tango music on the internet. (Beware: the tango music sold in shops is almost never appropriate for dancing.)
• Shoes
Not everyone wears specific dance shoes for tango, but if shoes are your thing, tango might suit you very well… There’s a great new(-ish) dancewear shop on Hills Road (on the left when heading out of town). They’re called Attitude and they have an excellent range of men’s and women’s tango shoes; be sure to specify Argentine tango. But NO need to buy any before your first lesson! You can wear any shoes that are comfortable and that you can balance in. Just come as you are!
• Other listings sites
Treat them with a pinch of salt as they generally aren’t maintained very well. We sometimes get people turning up at the wrong time/on the wrong night because some “What’s On” guide gave them out-of-date information about Tango Serendipity events. If you spot a site with out of date information, please let them know.
